Forming A Team
Raising critically needed funds for those affected by HIV and AIDS is extremely important and easy to do as a group; 62% of the money raised for AIDS Arms LifeWalk comes from pledges collected by teams. Forming a LifeWalk team is fun and promotes fellowship. It's a time for social interaction outside of a structured environment and it's a great way for friends and group members to bond. Teams motivate and challenge each other (or other teams) into a fundraising whirlwind and are great exposure for your organization. Plus, we award fantastic prizes for the top fundraising teams. To start a team simply:
- Select a team name and designate a captain or co-captains
- Register and download a
Team Captain Handbook
- Set a financial goal. Our goal is for each team to raise at least $500.
- Create a team webpage through the
FirstGiving web site
- Recruit Walkers by informing everyone in your company, organization(s)
and school about the team and how they can get involved. Aim for a minimum 10
team members.
- Motivate teammates to collect pledges. (Download
a pledge form).
- Invite coworkers, customers and vendors to support your team.
- Attempt to collect donations when your donors sign your pledge form or shortly thereafter
or have them visit your personal FirstGiving web page. Checks should be made payable to
"AIDS Arms LifeWalk". Have your donors note your team name on the memo line.

Online fundraising is available via the
FirstGiving web site! Make a
team page or make an individual page and link it to the team page! It's so easy
you can start today!
Register/Donate
Encourage the involvement of your group by utilizing newsletters, e-mail,
incentives and planning group activities. Place posters, send flyers and update
your outgoing voicemail message to let everyone know you are participating and you want them to join your team. We want you to be successful!
Rewards
Past reward have ranged from American Airlines tickets,
to weekend jet-a-ways,
to restaurant gift cards and more. The following categories are typically

T-Shirt Contest
Teams can enter the
T-shirt contest by submitting the printed shirt to AIDS Arms no later than
Sunday, October 5th. You may drop it off no later than 1pm October 5th at
the LifeWalk booth the day of the event. The T-Shirt design must include the words "AIDS
Arms LifeWalk" along with the team name to be
considered. Three winners will be selected and announced at the
LifeWalk Wrap-Up Party. Submissions to AIDS Arms
can be dropped off or mailed to: Margaret Byrne, AIDS Arms, Inc., 219 Sunset Avenue #116 A,

Team Captains
Our Team Captains are among the most important contributors to
LifeWalk. They fill an important leadership role
that is an integral part of our event success. The responsibilities can be
challenging, but they pale in comparison to the many rewards.
